Decision-making

The Turku City Region is a joint municipal authority with a single decision-making body in accordance with the Local Government Act. The highest decision-making power is exercised by the Board of Turku City Region, with representatives from all member municipalities of the joint municipal authority. 

The joint municipal authority is responsible for tasks assigned to it in the Regional Strategy approved by the member municipalities and for the general development of cooperation between the member municipalities. It implements joint planning and development projects in the city region and carries out joint advocacy work for the municipalities.

The daily operations of the joint municipal authority are led by the Director of Turku City Region.
