The Turku City Region is Finland’s third largest cluster of inhabitants, workplaces and expertise. Its strengths include a high level of expertise, rich history, unique archipelago, fast transport connections and smooth everyday services.
The Turku City Region Joint Municipal Authority is a cooperation organisation between the municipalities of Turku, Kaarina, Lieto, Naantali, Raisio and Rusko.
It implements a joint regional strategy for the city region approved by the councils of the member municipalities. The objectives of the regional cooperation are sustainable growth, good quality of life for residents, functional transport connections, high level of expertise and availability of labour.

Finnair’s flight connections between Turku and Helsinki must be continued
Finland’s national airline Finnair has today announced that it will replace flights between Turku and Helsinki with bus connections from the beginning of May. Finnair’s decision is detrimental to the Turku City Region and must be reassessed.

Jukka Vornanen, MA, elected as Director of Turku City Region
Turku’s core city region forms a dense and borderless commuting and service area where the vitality, attractiveness and competitiveness of the region should be developed as a larger whole. Today, the Board of Turku City Region unanimously elected Jukka Vornanen, MA, as the Director of Turku City Region.

Turku City Region Joint Municipal Authority started its operations
During this summer, the councils of the municipalities of the core city region (Kaarina, Lieto, Naantali, Raisio, Rusko and Turku) approved a treaty establishing a joint municipal authority.
